South Point School Postpones Exam As FIFA World Cup 2026 Finals Clash With Schedule

A school in Kolkata, South Point School, deferred the Periodic Assessment 1, Mid Term Test and Unit Test 1 as they were clashing with the FIFA World Cup Finals schedule. The July session exam has been postponed in interest of the students for football. The school authorities issued an official circular announcing the postponement of the exams on July 1, 2026.
The exams were scheduled to be conducted on July 20 and July 21 for Class 6 to 12, but have been postponed now.
Since the exams were scheduled immediately after FIFA World Cup Final to be played on July 19, 2026, the school authorities decided to postpone them.
The circular states,”keeping in mind the pupils' interest in the FIFA World Cup 2026 final” the exams have been postponed.
The revised schedule was also released along with the announcement. Exams for Class 6 to 12 scheduled for July 19, 2026, will now be conducted on July 29, 2026, Wednesday and the exam scheduled for July 20, 2026, will now be conducted on July 30, 2026, Thursday.
Revised Schedule Applicable on Few Exams Only
The school mentioned, that the postponement is applicable only for the exams scheduled for July 19 and July 20. Other exams will be conducted as per the schedule released earlier. South Point School Principal, Jaidev Ghosh “Since we were scheduled to begin on July 20 and the final is on July 19, we decided to change the schedule. Football is an emotion for the city”.
Deference Due to FIFA World Cup Finals 2026
Such postponements is not uncommon in Kolkata, and this decision has attracted attention from schools.
