West Bengal Assembly Election 2026: the West Bengal state elections are going to be held in two phases on 23 April and 29 April 2026. Voters across the state will cast their votes on these two days to elect representatives for the 294 seats. The West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee unveiled the party's roadmap, emphasizing a "people-first" selection process which is flanked by National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee.
The 2026 elections Trinamool Congress (TMC) has dropped 74 sitting MLAs, making room for fresh faces and local leaders. Meanwhile, 135 veterans have been retained to provide the necessary experience to navigate what is expected to be a high-stakes contest.
The party has also solidified its alliance in the North, leaving three seats in the Darjeeling hills to the Anit Thapa-led Bharatiya Gorkha Prajatantrik Morcha (BGPM), ensuring a unified front against the opposition.
