Delhi Rain Alert: Air India, IndiGo and SpiceJet Issue Travel Advisory as IMD Warns of Heavy Rain
Delhi rain disrupts traffic and transport as IMD issues a red alert. Air India, IndiGo and SpiceJet advise passengers to check flight status before heading to the airport.
India Meteorological Department issued a red alert for Delhi. Many areas has been water-logged, traffic has also been disrupted. Air Asia, SpiceJet and IndiGo has resealed travel advisory for asking passengers to plan their travel accordingly.
Why Have Airlines Issued a Travel Advisory?
After the heavy rainfall many parts of Delhi are affected. This may increase travel time. To let passengers travel conveniently, the airlines have released a advisory. They have asked passenger to check the latest flight status before departing, leaving early for the airport, keeping extra travel time in mind and also follow updates issued by the airline through official channels.
IMD Safety Advisory
The weather department has advised people to stay indoors during thunderstorms and lightning. Avoid taking shelter under trees or near electric poles. Drive carefully, as heavy rain may reduce visibility and cause waterlogging. Keep electronic devices unplugged during intense lightning activity. Follow updates issued by the IMD and local authorities.
Waterlogging in different areas
According to PTI, major stretches affected by waterlogging and traffic congestion included Narsinghpur on the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway, Basai, Hero Honda Chowk, Golf Course Extension Road, Rajiv Chowk, Vatika Chowk, Iffco Chowk, Udyog Vihar, Sohna Road, Khandsa Road, Old Delhi Road, Pataudi Road, the Millennium City Centre-Hero Honda Chowk stretch, Old Gurugram-Delhi Road, Old Railway Station Road and New Railway Station Road.
Gusty Winds Expected Across Delhi
IMD has warned of gusty winds reaching 30-40 kmph during thunderstorm. It can also temporary disrupt the traffic and reduced visibility for commuters.

According to IMD, on July 10 and 11, the weather service will reduce the alert to a Green Alert (No alert). For both days, however, gloomy skies are predicted to continue, with the potential for lightning, thunderstorms and very light to light rain in the morning or afternoon.
