The Union Public Service Commission will be releasing the UPSC Provisional Answer Key for Civil Services (Preliminary) Exams 2026 soon. As per reports, the answer key will be released shortly after the exam to enhance transparency and uphold the highest standards of conduct of the examination.

The UPSC Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination 2026 is scheduled for May 24, 2026. UPSC Chairman, Dr Ajay Kumar, stated that the Union Public Service Commission will be releasing the provisional answer key for the Civil Services Examinations, an initiative which reflects the commission's endeavour to bring greater transparency, responsiveness and timely communication with candidates. He further added that the policy aims to make the exam process more participative while upholding the sanctity, integrity and merit-based framework.

Along with the answer key, candidates are also being provided with the facility to submit objections. Candidates of the Civil Services Examination can submit their representations until May 31, 2026, through the dedicated Online Question Paper Representation Portal (QPRep) at upsconline.nic.in. Candidates can submit their representations by providing the correct key as per their understanding, along with a brief description and supporting documents from three authentic sources. This will enable candidates to make an early and informed assessment of their performance in the exams and also provide an adequate time and opportunity to submit their representations.

The representations received from candidates will be placed before a team of subject experts for a comprehensive and meticulous review. The subject experts possess domain knowledge and subject expertise and will carefully examine each representation, assess the supporting documents and also record their considered views regarding the correctness of the answer key for the concerned questions. The final answer key will be available only after due consideration of all representations received.

The new reform has been introduced to address the long-standing demand from candidates for publication of the provisional answer key and shows the commission's commitment towards transparency, accountability and strengthening the confidence of candidates in the exam system.
