In the 2026 Assembly Elections has vitnessed  massive voter turnout compared to 2021 

• West Bengal: A massive 92.47% (up from 81.76% in 2021).

• Tamil Nadu: Hits 84.69% (shattering previous single-day records).

• Assam: Solid at 85.38%.

• Postal Ballots: At 8:00 AM, officials will first count Postal Ballots ( These are the votes from senior citizens, PwD voters, and essential service staff).

• The EVM: At 8:30 AM, the Electronic Voting Machines are unsealed.

• Double Check: A computer-based "parallel tabulation" will run alongside manual entry to ensure 100% accuracy.

• The VVPAT Audit: Finally, slips from 5 randomly selected VVPATs per assembly seat will be matched with the EVM count before the final winner is declared.

As counting day begins, the primary focus remains on the incumbent governments and their challengers across the five regions. In West Bengal (294 seats), the Trinamool Congress (TMC) led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee seeks a fourth consecutive term, while the BJP looks to establish its first government in the state. In Tamil Nadu (234 seats), M.K. The Stalin-led DMK alliance is defending its mandate against the AIADMK and the newly formed TVK led by Vijay.

The results will also determine if the LDF under Pinarayi Vijayan in Kerala (140 seats) and the BJP-led alliance under Himanta Biswa Sarma in Assam (126 seats) can maintain their legislative majorities.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has officially placed all 243 counting centers under a high-tech "lockdown" to ensure a secure and transparent process. In a significant digital upgrade,  For the first time, the ECI has introduced QR-code-based entry for all officials and agents to prevent any unauthorized access. There is a strict three-tier cordon in place:

• Outer Layer: State police managing traffic and crowds.

• Middle Layer: Armed police checking manual IDs.

• Inner Layer: CAPF (Central Forces) guarding the actual counting halls and EVM strongrooms. No mobile phones are allowed inside the counting area—only the designated "Counting Observer" can use one.

Tamil Nadu, Kerala, West Bengal, Assam, and Puducherry where assembly election results will be declared today.
