The Central Board of Secondary Education, CBSE has opened its online portal for Class 12 students who are unsatisfied with their 2026 board exam marks. Following the issues of its new digital On-Screen Marking (OSM) system, the board is allowing students to verify their totals, download scanned copies of their checked answer sheets, or challenge specific evaluations entirely online. Important Rules to Remember

  • You need to follow the step by step process and cannot jump straight to the re-evaluation part. To challenge a specific question, you must have gone through the initial stages of verification and downloading your scanned booklet.
  • Students should stay careful applying for this, as a reviewer finds a mistake that lowers your score, the decrease will be strictly implemented. Your original mark sheet will be canceled, and a revised one will be issued.
  • All subjects and questions you wish to re-evaluate or challenge must be submitted in a single online application. As it cannot log back in later to add more subjects or questions.

What is On Screen Marking (OSM)? 

On Screen Marking (OSM) is a digital Evaluation system wherein answer books are made available on screen for evaluation purpose. In this system, actual answer books are scanned for evaluation.

What is the difference between traditional evaluation method and On Screen Marking?

There is no difference between traditional evaluation method and On Screen Marking system. In On Screen Marking, answer book is made available on monitor and mouse is used for award of marks.

How scanning was done?

  • Answer books in a definite number were given for scanning in the Regional Offices of the CBSE.
  • Scanning of answer books were done using lamp scanners where answerbooks did not need to be cut from the spine but could be scanned completely without any alterations.

What does "on-screen marking" mean?

On-Screen Marking (OSM) is a digital evaluation system where examiners grade physical, pen-and-paper exams by assessing scanned copies on a computer screen rather than checking paper booklets directly.
