Every year on September 5th, Teacher’s Day is observed to honour the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. 

On this day the government honours the best teachers of the country. President Droupadi Murmu will confer the National Teachers Awards 2026 on September 5, 2026, at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. 

There are 48 school teachers who have been chosen for honour this year. These teachers come from 27 states, 7 Union Territories and 6 Central Government organisations. The list has 26 male teachers and 22 female teachers. 

The teachers were chosen through a three stage process at district, state and national level.
