NIT Warangal Opening and Closing Rank 2026 Round 1: Check Branch wise OS JoSAA Cutoff
JoSAA has officially released the NIT Warangal Round 1 opening and closing ranks for 2026-27 B.Tech admissions under the Other State quota. Candidates can review these detailed cutoffs across various categories and branches to assess competition and plan for subsequent counselling rounds.
The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) has officially declared the Round 1 opening and closing ranks on June 13 for admissions to the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Warangal for the academic session 2026-27. Candidates allotted seats through the Other State (OS) quota can now review the latest cutoff ranks to understand the competition level across different B.Tech programmes offered by the institute.
NIT Warangal continues to be one of the most popular NITs in the country due to its academic excellence, placement opportunities, experienced faculty, and modern infrastructure. Thousands of JEE Main qualified candidates compete every year for a limited number of seats available across various engineering branches.
Understanding Opening and Closing Ranks
The opening rank represents the JEE Main rank of the first candidate who secured admission to a particular branch during Round 1 counselling. On the other hand, the closing rank is the rank of the last candidate who received a seat in that programme under the specified category and quota.
These ranks help candidates understand the competitiveness of each course and estimate their chances of securing admission in subsequent counselling rounds.

What Candidates Should Do After Round 1?
Candidates who have gained a seat in Round 1 should evaluate their allotted branch and institute before moving to their next step. JoSAA provides three choices for an allotted seat: Freeze (accepting the seat and exiting the counselling process), Float (accepting the current seat but remaining open to a better branch at any institute in future rounds), and Slide (accepting the seat but remaining open to a better branch only within the same institute).
Those who have not gained their preferred branch should continue participating in subsequent JoSAA rounds, as cutoffs often shift due to seat withdrawals and choices made by other candidates. Aspirants should compare the current year’s cutoff with previous years to make better decisions regarding further seat allocation rounds.
