NEET UG Counselling 2026: MCC Explains Reservation Policy for MBBS, BDS, and B.Sc Nursing Admissions
NEET UG Reservation Policy: The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) released the NEET UG Counselling 2026 central reservation policy for 15% AIQ and 100% central institution seats. Breakdown includes 15% SC, 7.5% ST, 27% OBC-NCL (Central List), 10% EWS, and 5% horizontal PwBD reservation. Deemed Universities are exempt, while 85% state quota seats follow individual state regulations.
NEET UG Reservation Policy: The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) manages the central reservation policy for undergraduate medical, dental, and nursing admissions in the 15% All India Quota (AIQ) seats in state government medical colleges as well as 100% seats in AIIMS, JIPMER, Central Universities, and ESIC colleges. In this context, 15% of seats will be reserved for Scheduled Castes (SC) aspirants, 7.5% of seats for Scheduled Tribes (ST) aspirants, 27% of seats for OBCs falling in the Central List, and 10% for GEN-EWS applicants.
Moreover, there will be a 5% horizontal reservation for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) certified by designated medical assessment boards in all categories. To qualify for benefits of category-wise seats, students need to produce certificates that comply with criteria laid down by the Central Government. In contrast, admission through the 85% state quota in state government and private colleges takes place as per State/Union Territory-wise reservation policies.

Central List Compliance: For OBC-NCL and EWS quota based on AIQ, certificates have to be provided in accordance with the Central Government List, which is available in the prescribed financial format.

Category certificates at the state level will not be considered for central counseling process. Deemed Universities Exemption: There will be no reservation policy (SC/ST/OBC/EWS) in Deemed Universities; 100% of the seats are filled up through open merit/management quota only.

State Quota Seats (85%): Reservation in the 85% state quota in government and state private institutions will be done as per individual state/UT reservation rules.
