National Medical Commission Directs 70 Medical Colleges To Install CCTV Cameras

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has asked 70 medical colleges to comply and install 25 CCTV cameras at their campus. The institutions are required to provide access to their live feed to the NMC Command and Control centre.

NMC Direct Medical Colleges: The National Medical Commission (NMC) has ordered 70 medical colleges to install CCTVs on their campuses and provide the access for the same to its Command and Control centre. The commission has shared a list of colleges who are yet to link their Network Video Recorder (NVR) with the commission and has urged an immediate response regarding the same.

In an official notification, dated July 6, the commission said that it is mandatory for medical colleges to install 25 CCTV cameras on their campuses, citing the Undergraduate Minimum Standard Requirements (UGMSR 2023), Postgraduate Minimum Standard Requirements (PGMSR 2023) and Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) Regulations, 2023. Upon installation of CCTV, the medical institutions are required to share the access to NMC’s Command and Control Centre via NVR.

The commission has asked the colleges to install these cameras at prescribed locations and provide its live feed to them. The colleges must maintain a 30-day playback also and install NVR.

 

List of Medical Colleges Span Across States

The list of medical colleges mentioned in the directive issued by the commission span across several states including Assam, Bihar, Delhi, Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Odisha, Puducherry, Punjab, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal.

Some of medical colleges asked to comply with the directive include:

  • ESIC Medical College and Hospital, Beltola
  • Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, Visakhapatnam
  • Nimra Institute of Medical Sciences, Krishna Dist., A.P.
  • Anugrah Narayan Magadh Medical College, Gaya
  • Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Medical Sciences and Dr. RML Hospital, New Delhi
  • Central Health Education Bureau, New Delhi
  • Chacha Nehru Bal Chikitsalaya
  • Indian Railway Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences and Research and Associated Northern Rail
  • Government Medical College, Bakshinagar Jammu
  • Indira Gandhi Medical College & Hospital, Nagpur
  • Rajashree Chatrapati Shahu Maharaj Government Medical College, Kolhapur
  • Government Medical College, Churachandpur(Churachandpur Medical College, Manipur
  • Government Medical College Phulbani , Kandhama

The commission further said that it regularly follows medical colleges to ensure they have their NVR’s linked with them. However, certain medical colleges - undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) both still failed to comply and a list of those institutions were shared.

“NMC team has continuously followed Medical Colleges who have not followed above NMC regulations/guidelines for installation of CCTV system & has not shared its feed via NVR but still some Medical Colleges have not yet linked their NVR with the Commission. A list of such Medical colleges (both UG and PG) is enclosed herewith.” the official notice read.

The NMC has ordered all institutions to comply with the directive immediately and in case of any queries or technical support, they can clarify the same at support.cctv@nmc.org.in.
