Mumbai schools to resume classes from today as IMD issues a yellow alert. Status changes are expected depending on the weather conditions.

Mumbai School Holiday: After schools were closed for the last two days due to continuous rainfall, schools across Mumbai are expected to function normally as the BMC has not issued any fresh information regarding school holidays. 

The Bhihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has not issued any fresh notification regarding the closure of schools for today. As per the latest weather updates, the India Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert warning indicating an improvement in the weather conditions. 

Educational institutions and offices are expected to function as normal unless fresh instructions are issued by the authorities. Intermittent showers are expected in certain areas, while waterlogging may continue in certain low-lying areas.

There is no official notification from the BMC or the Maharashtra state government declaring a holiday for schools, colleges and offices in the city. Schools and colleges were closed on June 6 and 7 due to heavy and very heavy rainfall, with a Red alert and Orange alert issued for Mumbai, Palghar, Thane and other districts. 

Further decisions regarding school holidays will be made based on the weather conditions. Parents and students are advised to stay connected with their respective schools and municipal authorities for updates regarding the school holidays. 

Yellow Alert Issued in Mumbai

The India Meteorological Department has issued a Yellow alert in the city after the weather conditions were seen to improve from the last two days. The skies are expected to be cloudy with light rainfall in certain areas. On the other hand, Pune and Satara have been issued an Orange alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall. 

Karnataka Schools Closed Amidst Heavy Rainfall

As per reports, several districts in Karnataka have announced a school holiday for today, July 8, 2026. Schools, Anganwadi Centres and PUCs will be closed today due to heavy rainfall in certain regions in the state. The school holiday has been announced considering the safety of students.
