Delhi CM Rekha Gupta: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has, therefore, formally ordered the structural and safety audit of all 1,270 schools, both government and government-aided, in the city, with this new initiative coming out of concern for the welfare of children. It follows her surprise inspection of the Government Sarvodaya Vidyalaya, Roop Nagar, during which she found quite alarming safety-related structural issues. In a snapshot of the exposure during the inspection, CM Gupta has been informed of unsafe structural integrity, antiquated sanitation, and malfunctioning firefighting devices directly threatening faculties and students.

This is the required audit; only superficial examinations such as the security of the electric wiring, seismic stability, and operation of emergency procedures have been envisaged. Going across the city with these orders, the Chief Minister underlined that indifference to public school infrastructure would not be tolerated. Each school will, henceforth, undergo a series of assessments. The outcome will lay the foundation for a massive renovation pipeline, ensuring adherence to contemporary safety standards in all government-operated schools. This forms part of continuing rebuilding of parental faith in the state's ability to deliver a safe and dignified learning environment for millions of children enrolled in schools under the capital's public schools.

What Did The Officials say?

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta posted on X to give officials a severe warning, stressing that any disregard for basic services or student safety will not be tolerated. Reforms in initiatives, which have been placed on "war footing," over the past few years have been intended at further improving the teaching-learning environment in government schools, which have suffered from increasingly dilapidated conditions and grossly mismanaged. For this one, yes, put emphasis on structural stability and essential facilities.
