Here's an amusing fact: The change of "Toyoda" to "Toyota" was done because the latter took fewer brush strokes to write in Japanese, and it was considered lucky.

He is credited with expanding Toyoda Automatic Loom Works, a successful textile business created by his father, Sakichi Toyoda, into the world of automotive manufacturing in 1933.
