The DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai also hosted two finals. The very first IPL final in 2008 was played here, where Rajasthan Royals beat CSK. In 2010, CSK won their first IPL title at the same venue by beating Mumbai Indians.
The Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad has hosted two finals as well, in 2017 and 2019, with Mumbai Indians winning on both occasions. The 2019 final against CSK was an absolute last-ball thriller that fans still talk about.
Which IPL Final Matches Were Played Outside India?
Here is a fun fact most fans forget. In 2009, due to elections in India, the IPL was moved to South Africa, and the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg hosted the final. Similarly, in 2020 and 2021, as well the finals were played in Dubai where Mumbai Indians defeated Delhi Capitals in 2020 and Chennai Super Kings took the trophy home in 2021 after winning against Kolkata Knight Riders.
