Union Ministry of Panchayati Raj hosted the National Panchayat Awards 2025 ceremony in New Delhi by highlighting the significance of the grassroots governance  to achieve India’s visiomn a Visit Bharat. 

• A total of 42 exemplary Panchayats from across India were decorated for outstanding self-governance and sustainable development from which 22 of the 42 award-winning Panchayats are led by women, highlighting a transformative shift toward inclusive rural leadership.

• The awards were distributed in two categories:

  • The Deen Dayal Upadhyay Panchayat Satat Vikas Puraskar (DDUPSVP) given to 34 Gram Panchayats for localised implementation of Sustainable Development Goals (LSDGs).

  • The Nanaji Deshmukh Sarvottam Panchayat Satat Vikas Puraskar conferred upon 8 elite Panchayats showing all-round institutional excellence.

• Winning Panchayats received direct financial grants ranging from ₹50 lakh to ₹5 crore under the Incentivization of Panchayats (IoP) scheme, a central component of the Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (RGSA).

Navachar Mantra Initiative Launched

The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) officially launched the Navachar Mantra Initiative at IIT Delhi to fostering grassroots innovation: 

• The program is being driven by the National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NIESBUD), in strategic collaboration with Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer (FITT), IIT Delhi, serving as the technical knowledge partner.

PM SVANidhi Marks Six Years of Street Vendor Empowerment

• The PM Street Vendor’s AtmaNirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) scheme officially marked six years of operation in the first week of June 2026 which was launched by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) during the pandemic. 

• The scheme has successfully brought over 75 lakh street vendors into the formal banking fold. 

• It provides progressive, collateral-free working capital loans across three separate tranches; ₹15,000, ₹25,000, and ₹50,000 and beneficiaries receive a 7% interest subsidy upon timely repayment alongside cashback incentives for digital transactions, helping to formalize the urban informal economy.

Operation Sheruwali in Jammu & Kashmir

• Indian defence forces successfully executed Operation Sheruwali in Jammu and Kashmir.

Cabinet Approves National Highway Projects Worth Over ₹24,249 Crore

• The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved 4 major National Highway projects worth ₹24,249 crore spanning over 700 kilometers across four states: Odisha, Telangana, Bihar, and Madhya Pradesh.
