Difference between Home State Quota and Other State Quota

NIT Allahabad offers 50% seats to Home State candidates and 50% to Other State (OS) candidates. Admissions are divided between students from Uttar Pradesh and students from the rest of the country.

• Home State (HS) Quota: The home state quota is reserved for candidates from Uttar Pradesh. Closing ranks of HS quota are more relaxed compared to the national quota.
• Other State (OS) Quota: This other state quota is reserved for candidates from the rest of the country. Closing ranks here are tighter because of the large number of applicants.
