NEET 2026 Exams Cancelled: The National Testing Agency has issued a notification on the cancellation of the NEET UG 2026 exams. NEET UG was conducted on May 3, 2026, in a single shift. 

According to the press release issued on May 10, 2026, in the late evening of 7 May 2026, four days after the examination, NTA received inputs concerning alleged malpractice activity around the examination. The inputs were escalated by NTA to central agencies on the morning of 8 May 2026 for independent verification and necessary action.

Based on the inputs subsequently examined by NTA in coordination with the central agencies, and the investigative findings shared by the law enforcement agencies and to ensure that there is transparency in the system, the National Testing Agency, with the approval of the Government of India, has decided to cancel the NEET (UG) 2026 examination conducted on 3 May 2026.  The revised schedule for exams will be issued soon.

The NEET UG 2026 exam was held on May 3, 2026. According to the notification issued by the NTA, over 22.79 lakh students appeared for the exam, which was held across 551 cities in India and 14 cities abroad, covering more than 5,400 centres.

NTA has mentioned that all further communications, including the re-conduct of the exams, re-issuing of admit cards, will be given through official channels only. Parents and aspirants are requested to rely only on the official channels and disregard unverified reports on social media.

    NEET 2026 Exam Cancelled: No Fresh Registrations Required

    As per the details provided by NTA, the registration data, candidature, and examination centres opted for in the May 2026 cycle will be carried forward to the re-conducted examination. No fresh registration will be required, and no additional examination fee will be levied. In addition, fees already paid will be refunded to the students, and the exam will be re-conducted using NTA’s internal resources.

    As per the details issued by the NTA, the NEET examination on 3 May 2026 was conducted as scheduled and under a full security protocol. Question papers were transported in GPS-tracked vehicles bearing unique, traceable watermark identifiers. On the late evening of 7 May 2026, four days after the examination, NTA received inputs concerning alleged malpractice activity around the examination. These inputs were escalated by NTA to central agencies on the morning of 8 May 2026 for independent verification and necessary action. The inputs received by NTA, taken together with the findings shared by the law enforcement agencies, established that the present examination process could not be allowed to stand. The re-conducted examination dates, along with the re-issued admit-card schedule, will be communicated through the official channels of the Agency in the coming days. This decision has been taken in the interest of students and in recognition of the trust on which the national examination system rests.
