Key Points
- NEET UG 2026 requires a live photo during online application.
- Applications open Feb 8, 2026, close March 8, 2026; exam May 3, 2026.
- Live photo must match Aadhaar; use plain background, good lighting.
In the NEET UG 2026 process, a candidate is expected to take a photo of themselves through a live photograph while filling out the online application form. Therefore, rather than uploading their existing photo through the student’s phone or laptop, the online system will help the candidate take a real-time photograph of themselves. This photograph will be matched with the one already there on the candidate’s Aadhaar card. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has formally launched the online application portal of NEET (UG)-2026 with effect from February 8, 2026.
An important component of the "Online" process is to upload a live photo and supporting documents. The live photo step also requires the applicant to have access to a webcam or smartphone. It has also to ensure that there is appropriate lighting and that it has a plain background for a smooth live photo. If the live photo and the Aadhaar card photo do not match, the applicant may also have to upload a valid supporting certificate. According to NTA, it has made it clear that applicants should not submit blurry, outdated, or poor-quality images.
