TN School Education Minister Rajmohan Releases New Textbooks for Classes 1–3; Reopening Dates Announced

TN School Reopening Date 2026: New TN School Textbooks: With the historic formation of the Cabinet headed by Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, A. Rajmohan who recently appointed Minister of School Education in Tamil Nadu held his first departmental meeting. With the help of top bureaucrats, including Additional Chief Secretary Dr. Chandramohan B (IAS), the minister set the basic educational guidelines and released nine innovative children-friendly textbooks for classes 1-3. These books, which were made according to the guidelines of the State Education Policy, shift the emphasis of teaching from routine memorization to activities and socio-emotional development of students.
Through the restructuring of the curriculum, the Ministry was also able to ensure that the effective educational strategy is made for the next academic year 2026-27. In order to ensure full accountability in the system, the Minister, Rajmohan, has directed all government schools, aided schools, and private schools to open their gates on June 1, 2026, and also that the textbooks, notebooks, uniforms and the free education kits be provided right after the reopening. Additionally, the orientation program regarding the new curriculum of the primary schools will commence on June 1 to June 3. Furthermore, the state language policy has also been strongly re-stated through the minister.
