With the CBSE Class 12 exams concluding on April 10, the focus has shifted to the evaluation phase. For the first time, CBSE has fully implemented On-Screen Marking, OSM, for Class 12 answer sheets. While the students gave the exam in offline mode, the checking process has now entirely been changed to a digital process, marking five significant changes to the final 2026 results.

How does On-Screen Marking, OSM, Change Your Result?

The change to the digital evaluation is more than simply a technical update, it has a direct impact on the accuracy and speed of the CBSE Class 12 Result 2026. Here are the five main changes:

  1. What Has Changed For Teachers?

The On-Screen Marking approach allows teachers to perform evaluation activities from their own schools without compromising their regular teaching responsibilities. They will be able to log in to the OSM portal using their User ID, school number, password, and date of birth, and click the start button next to each topic to begin the evaluation process.

  1. Post-Verification of Marks Will Not Be Required

CBSE has stated that the traditional post-result verification of marks may no longer be required under the OSM system, as the likelihood of totalling errors will be greatly decreased. Although the evaluation process will be totally digital, students will still write exams on paper. The new system is expected to reduce post-result delays.

  1. Monitoring of the Evaluation Process

Teachers’ evaluation speeds will be monitored to make sure uniformity and quality. All designated teachers, including those from the affiliated schools abroad, must be present and actively engaged throughout the evaluation process. In addition, Assistant and Head Examiners will verify a sample of answer sheets to ensure that quality criteria are met. Any discrepancy will be carefully monitored for repair and process improvement.

  1. Results will be Processed Faster and More Accurately

With the introduction of the On-Screen Marking, OSM system, the evaluation process will be completed ahead of time and more accurately. Students will not have to worry woory about the post-result verification of marks.

  1. Writing and Presenting Your Answers Will Matter More

While reviewing the answer sheet of students, examiners will evaluate the scanned photographs on a screen, so clean and precise handwriting will play an important role. Unclear writing may be more difficult to read during digital evaluation.
