Nitin Nabin’s rise from a young Patna MLA to BJP National Working President reflects the party’s focus on grassroots leadership and urban mobilisation. Backed by organisational experience, electoral success and BJYM credentials, his appointment marks a generational transition within the BJP ahead of upcoming elections, strengthening cadre coordination, campaign strategy and youth outreach nationwide.

Since December 2025, the incumbent National Working President of Bharatiya Janata Party is its five-term BJP MLA in the Bankipur constituency at Patna, Nitin Nabin (born May 23, 1980), who is the youngest-ever candidate to assume the presidency of the BJP at the age of 45 in April 2026. 

The son of an old BJP organizer Naveen Kishor Sinha, Nabin made Patna City a BJP bastion at the booth level with his mastery of the Iron Booth in Road Construction, Urban Development, and Law without losing any important ministerial portfolio in Bihar.

Nitin Nabin: Early Life & Education

Nitin Nabin was born in Ranchi (undivided Bihar) but as a child, he relocated to Patna. As a member of the Kayastha caste, he was brought up surrounded by the politics of BJP through his father, who was a senior organizer of the party based at Patna. 

Finished the intermediate education (Class XII) in 1998; has no further degree registered. His popularity among the professionals and traders of Patna was molded by the urban middle-class origin.

Nitin Nabin’s Political Entry

  • Breakthrough 2006: At the Age of 26 he won Patna West bypoll by riding on the cadres network of father. 

  • Post-delimitation (2008), moved to the Bankipur - the main urban seat of Patna Sahib which is also the home of such up-market colleges like Patna College and Science College. 

  • Member of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM): National General Secretary, State President, Bihar; headed high profile campaigns such as National Unity Yatra (J&K), Guwahati-Tawang martyrs march (1965 war tribute).

The appointment of Nitin Nabin as BJP National Working President on December 14, 2025, is a generational change of leadership in the ruling party of India. It makes the 45-year-old Bihar MLA the youngest and the first Bihari to be named to this organizational important position. 

Nabin, who was appointed by the BJP Parliamentary Board, immediately, is in effect deputy to outgoing president J.P. Nadda, day-to-day operations being conducted under preparation of the 2026 presidential election in which Nabin is the front-runner.

How was Nitin Nabin Appointed as the National Working President?

This was decided upon in the context of post 2024 Lok Sabha organizational restructuring. As the term of Nadda had been increased by the elections that have now been held, BJP was looking at an energetic successor who would be a blend of a grassroot and electoral performer. Nabin emerged through:

  • BJP Recommendation: HQ Arun Singh (National Gen Secy) announced after Parliamentary Board meeting.

  • RSS Backing: Good swayamsevak qualifications since BJYM times.

  • Patna Model: Metro-level superiority reproduced in the cities across the country.

  • Monthly Charge-Taking: December 15, 2025 at BJP HQ, New Delhi. Amit Shah, Nadda; PM Modi congratulated him on twitter by calling him a hardworking karyakarta.
