How to Navigate the JoSAA & CSAB 2026 Counseling Process?
The admission process for NIT follows a multi-level process, which includes counseling and seat filling. Students can check the step-by-step guide from here:
-
Candidates have to first register themselves on JoSAA portal. After the registration they will be able to submit their preferences for colleges and branches in decreasing order.
-
Before the councelling process, the portal releases mock results to help students evaluate their chances of admission at certain institutions and edit the changes as required.
-
A total of six rounds are released throughout the councelling process. Each round determines a number of students' seats. Candidates can lock their seat allotted, accept but wait for better options, or slide, which is to accept but look for a branch option in the same institution.
-
After the allotment of the seat, candidates can then complete the payment for seat acceptance. They are also supposed to complete online document verification to seure their seat.
-
While JoSAA offers 6 rounds, after the completion of this round, remaining students can still appear for the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) (special rounds) for any vacant seats at NITs.
