The Jharkhand state government has ordered a change in school timings owing to rising temperatures in the state. Keeping in mind the safety of students, schools have been directed to begin classes from 7 AM onwards. As per the revised timings, schools will be functional from 7 AM to 12 Noon for all classes.
The timings will remain the same across the district, as per reports. Classes for students from KG to Class 8 will be conducted from 7 AM to 11:30 AM, and classes for students from Class 9 to 12 will be conducted from 7 AM to 12 Noon. The timings will be applicable for all government, private, aided/unaided and other schools operating in the district.

According to a post by DC Ranchi on ‘X’ formerly known as Twitter, taking into consideration the increasing impact of the heat, the Department of School Education and Literacy, Government of Jharkhand has issued an order ti change the school timings. The school timings for students from KG to Class 8 in all categories of government, government-aided/non-aided (including minority), and private schools operating in the district shall be conducted from 7:00 AM to 11:30 AM, and classes from Class 9 to Class 12 shall be conducted from 7:00 AM to 12:00 noon.
Officials have, however, added that teachers will have to stay in schools longer than students. All teachers and non-teaching staff members working in all categories of schools are required to complete non-academic tasks during the remaining time, which is 1 PM.
School Timings Revised in Other States
In Odisha, school timings have been revised in several districts. Schools in the state are now functional from early morning. Telangana has also mandated water breaks, access to shaded or cooler spaces within school premises. The state has also advised on limited outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day.
