Heavy Rain, Waterlogging: Gurugram, Dwarka Police Urge Public To Avoid Unnecessary Travel, 41mm Rain Recorded

The Deputy Commissioner of Gurugram and Delhi Police have issued advisories for people planning to travel today following heavy rainfall in the region early Saturday morning. Gurugram recorded 41 mm of rainfall up to 8 am on September 5, equivalent to around 1.6 inches of rainfall. Wazirabad recorded 42 mm, while Kadipur and Harsaru received 29 mm each. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast moderate thunderstorms and gusty winds in the Gurugram region for the next 2-3 hours, according to an advisory issued around 12 pm.

Gurugram Advisory For Public Amid Waterlogging

The Deputy Commissioner of Gurugram said the region received 41 mm of rainfall, with Wazirabad recording 42 mm, while Kadipur and Harsaru received 29 mm each. Amid waterlogging in several areas, the public has been advised to avoid non-essential travel and stay away from waterlogged roads, underpasses and low-lying areas.

The administration also advised residents to maintain a safe distance from trees, electric poles and overhead wires during the adverse weather conditions. The commissioner further urged people not to attempt to cross flooded or heavily waterlogged stretches.

Dwarka Advisory Amid Heavy Rainfall

The Delhi Police issued a traffic and waterlogging alert for several parts of Dwarka, with movement severely affected on Road Number 210, particularly between Rotary Chowk and DJB Chowk/Office and towards Omaxe.

Police personnel have been deployed in the affected areas to assist commuters and regulate traffic. The public has been advised to follow the instructions of the personnel deployed on the affected routes.

The Delhi Police also identified several roads that commuters have been advised to avoid. These include:

• Road No. 224 via Radha Swami Satsang Bhawan/DJB Chowk, from Dhulsiras towards Sector-1
• Road No. 210 from Rotary Chowk to DJB Chowk
• DJB Red Light/Omaxe Road
• Road No. 210/Omaxe Road from Dwarka Sectors 1, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 20

“Please plan your journey in advance, take alternate routes and avoid unnecessary travel through waterlogged stretches. Follow the directions of traffic personnel deployed on the affected routes,” the Delhi Police said in a post on X.

With heavy rainfall continuing to affect parts of Delhi-NCR, commuters have been advised to check traffic conditions before leaving and avoid waterlogged stretches wherever possible. Authorities have urged residents to exercise caution and cooperate with traffic personnel to prevent disruptions and ensure safety on the roads.
