NEET PG Disruption and Retest
Medical students across the states have been voicing their concerns for some time. They complain about disruptions in the conduct of the exam. They also point to poor conditions at test centres. Delays in counselling and low internships stipends add to their worries. The latest incident occurred on August 30, 2026. Thousands of students could not take their NEET PG examination on that day. Technical disruptions hit the iON Digital Zone iDZ Sitapura Centre in Jaipur Rajasthan. The board said the problem came from internal power supply issues. When claims of a paper leak surfaced the government stepped in. The Press Information Bureau clarified on its X handle that there was no question paper leak in the NEET PG examination. A retest has been announced for affected candidates on September 5, 2026. Calls for a national level retest continue.
Interns Strike Over Low Stipends
Medical interns are also raising their voices over low stipend. MBBS and BDS interns in Jammu and Kashmir are on an indefinite strike. They demand an increase in their monthly stipend from Rs 12,300 to Rs 30,000. Students claim their stipend has remained unchanged for the past seven years. This is despite repeated demand from interns. Medical interns in Madhya Pradesh have allegedly been receiving the lowest stipend in the country. This is despite the immense responsibilities they shoulder and the substantial fees they pay for medical education. FAIMA wrote a letter to Deputy CM and Health Minister Shri Rajendra Shukla in July 2026. The letter urged a hike in stipend from Rs 14,337 to Rs 30,000. Demands for a stipend increase have also come from the south. One X user asked for a stipend hike for all non service candidates of MD, MS, MCh, DM in Tamil Nadu. The user noted that MCh getting Rs 58,000 is hardly an amount at this age.
