The FIFA World Cup 2026 is about to reach its end. The quarter finals will be played over the weekend which will decide the final four teams of the semi finals.  France has already taken the lead and became the first team to reach the FIFA World Cup 2026 semi finals after defeating Morocco on 10 July with 2-0. Similarly on 11th July, Spain defeated Belgium with 2-1 and reaches the World Cup semifinals where it will be facing France.

Qualified Teams for the FIFA World Cup 2026 Semifinals

As of now France and Spain have reached the semifinals with Mbappe and Dembele scoring two goals for France and Merino's late goal saved the spot for Spain. The remaining matches are yet to be played.

Spain has wonh against Belgium on 11 July 2026 at 12:30 A.M. IST. Now Norway vs England and Argentina vs Switzerland will be played on 12 July 2026. Here is a detailed breakdown:

Apart from France the remaining teams are yet to confirm the semifinal spots. However, here is a brief overview of their journey:

France

• Group Stage: Won all three matches that the team played (defeated Senegal, Iraq, Norway)

• Round of 32: Defeated Sweden with 3-0 on June 30, 2026

• Round of 16: Defeated Paraguay with 1-0 on 5 July, 2026 and reached the quarterfinals

• Quarterfinal: Beat Morocco 2-0 on 10 July 2026 and reached semi finals

Spain 

• Group Stage: Won 2 out 3 played matches (defeated Saudi Arabia and Uruguay)

• Round of 32: Defeated Austria with 3-0 on 3 July 2026

• Round of 16: Defeated Portugal 1-0 on 7 July 2026 

• Quarterfinal: Defeated Belgium on July 11, 2026 with 2-1 and reached semi finals.  

Belgium

• Group Stage: The team played 3 matches and won only one match that was played against New Zealand. Egypt and Belgium tied with 1-1 goals and Belgium vs Iran was left at 0-0.

• Round of 32: Defeated Senegal with 3-2 on July 1, 2026

• Round of 16: Defeated USA with 4-1 on July 7, 2026

• Quarterfinal: Will be playing against Spain on July 11 as per IST. 

Norway

• Group Stage: Played 3 matches and won 2 out of them (defeated Iraq and Senegal)

England

• Group Stage: Played 3 matches and won 2 (defeated Panama and Croatia). Third match against Ghana resulted in 0-0

Argentina

Switzerland

FIFA World Cup 2026 Semifinal Fixtures Explained

France will be facing the winner of Spain vs Belgium in the first semifinal and it will be played on July 15, 2026. After the Round of 32, FIFA divided the bracket into two halves. The first half includes France, Morocco, Spain and Belgium. Similarly, Norway, England, Argentina and Switzerland were placed in the other half. 

France has defeated Morocco and Spain has defeated Belgium. These teams will now face each other in the first semifinals. In the same way, the winner of Norway vs England will play the winner of Argentina vs Switzerland in the second semifinal.
