The Bihar Public Service Commission, BPSC, has released the exam date for the BPSC 72nd Prelims exam 2026. The BPSC 72nd Prelims exam 2026 will be held on July 26, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM across various districts of Bihar. The Commission will fill more than 1000 vacancies across various posts through the BPSC 72nd Exam 2026. The selection process will include the prelims exam, mains exam and interview. The registration for this government job exam started from May 7, 2026 and closed on May 31, 2026. The minimum age limit set by the Commission is 20 years, and the maximum age limit ranges between 37 and 42 years, category-wise as on August 1, 2026.

BPSC 72nd Prelims 2026 Selection Process

The Bihar Public Service Commission, BPSC, will engage qualified candidates for the BPSC 72nd Pre Recruitment 2026 through a tough selection process. The candidates will have to appear for the Prelims Exam, Mains Exam and an Interview or Personality Test round. Given below is the simple breakdown of the BPSC 72nd Recruitment exam selection process 2026:-

• Prelims Exam:- It will be a objective type paper on general studies and will consist of 150 marks. The paper will be held for 2 hours. There will be negative marking of 1/3rd marks for each incorrect answer, and no marks will be given for an unanswered question. The candidates appearing for this exam will have to score above or meet the qualifying marks to move to the next stage.

• Mains Exam:- This is a written and descriptive exam. This paper will be conducted for papers like General Hindi, General Studies Paper 1, General Studies Paper 2, Essay (For CCE) and other optional subjects as opted by the candidates. Apart from the General Hindi Paper, which will be of 100 marks, all other papers will be 300 marks and will be conducted for 3 hours (except for optional subjects).

• Interview Stage:- The interview stage will consist of 120 marks. Only those candidates will be called for the interview who qualify for the Mains paper.
