Results are about to be released for the first batch enrolled under the first-ever practice-oriented undergraduate program for cybersecurity in India. The four-year program called Bachelor of Cybersecurity (B.Cyber) is a joint initiative between IIT Madras and IIT Kanpur which is an attempt to address the shortage of almost 1.5 million cybersecurity professionals across the country. Deviating from the standard JEE Advanced route, the revolutionary program has admitted the initial batch via shortlisting candidates on the basis of their performance in JEE Main, followed by a grueling practical admission test conducted at IIT Kanpur on July 5, 2026.
The curriculum of the program is highly competency based, including laboratory training in the areas of malware analysis, ethical hacking, and cloud security. Most importantly, the last two years involve a hands-on project in cybersecurity systems in government agencies and other critical institutions.
