DUSU Elections 2026: Metro Concession Pass, Internships, 24*7 Library Among NSUI’s Key Promises
NSUI has released its manifesto for the DUSU Elections 2026, promising affordable Metro concession passes, 24×7 libraries, menstrual leave, affordable housing, internships and other student-focused measures.
The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), a key rival of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), has announced its manifesto for the 2026 Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections.
Among the key promises mentioned in the manifesto, NSUI has proposed affordable Metro concession passes, menstrual leave for women students, 24×7 library access, internships, scholarships, mental health support and other measures aimed at improving student welfare.
The polling for the DUSU elections will be held on September 18, while the counting of votes and results will take place on September 19.
NSUI’s Manifesto For DUSU Elections 2026
The NSUI manifesto, titled ‘Accountable DU | Accountable DUSU’, focuses on student welfare, affordability, academic reforms, campus infrastructure, mental health and institutional accountability. Here are some of the key promises made by NSUI to Delhi University students:
Metro Concession Pass: NSUI has proposed affordable Metro concession passes for students to help reduce their daily transportation expenses.
Rent Control Act: The manifesto calls for stronger implementation of rent-control measures, along with greater accountability for landlords and regular inspections of PG accommodations. It also proposes a verified DU portal listing affordable PGs and rental housing, along with information on licences, rent caps, ratings and grievance redressal.
5-Day Academic Schedule: NSUI has proposed classes from Monday to Friday, giving students more time for internships, extracurricular activities and other engagements.
24×7 Library: The organisation has promised round-the-clock reading and library facilities for students.
Menstrual Leave For Women: The manifesto proposes two days of menstrual leave every month for women students.
Reform NEP-Based FYUP UG Structure: NSUI has called for reforms in the four-year undergraduate programme under the National Education Policy, with an emphasis on greater clarity and transparency.
Internships: The organisation has promised better access to internships, career guidance and employment opportunities for students.
Mental Health: NSUI has proposed strengthening mental health and counselling services across the university.
Affordable Fees: The manifesto calls for more affordable fees for students, along with free evaluation and rechecking of examination papers.
Subsidised Canteens 24×7: NSUI has also proposed subsidised canteens operating round the clock to make food more affordable and accessible on campus.
Other proposals in the manifesto include improved sports facilities, campus-wide Wi-Fi, safe drinking water, better classroom infrastructure, scholarships and financial support for SC/ST students, legal awareness programmes and measures for gender sensitisation.
