Delhi Government has announced the Summer Vacations for all Delhi Schools. As per the circular issued, all Delhi Government Schools will observe Summer Vacations from May 11 to June 30 this year. The notice, please note, does not apply for private schools operating in Delhi NCR. The notice, however, can be taken into consideration while planning the academic calendar for the year.
Schools have been asked to conduct remedial classes for Classes 9, 10 and 12 for two weeks during the summer vacations. Remedial classes will be conducted form May 11 to May 23. This is subject to availability of the teachers and school premises during the intended period. Detailed schedule for the remedial classes has also been provided in the circular.
Parents and students may please note that the purpose of the remedial classes is to help students with the concepts that have already been covered in the classes. Also, there is no class 11 as of now as the board examinations are still underway. Session for Class 11 will officially begin from July after the declaration of the CBSE Class 10 Results 2026.
Schedule for Remedial Classes
Timings for teachers during the remedial session (May 11 to May 23) would be from 7:20 am to 11:00 AM. Students would be required to attend the school from 7:30 am to 10:30 am.
Also, there would be no afternoon shift. Schools operating in two shifts would will arrange for classes to be conducted during the time in separate wings. The decision has been taken keeping the weather conditions in mind.
Furthermore, there would be three classes of 1 hour each during the time. The first period would be from 7:30 am to 8:30 am, followed by a one hour period from 8:30 to 9:30 and then from 9:30 to 10:30 am.

Guidelines for Remedial Classes for Delhi Schools during Summer Holidays

Focus on Science and Mathematics in remedial classes for students of classes 9 and 10. Heads of schools, however, may also arrange for remedial classes for other subjects, basis their understanding of the needs of the respective students.

Subjects for class 12 will be decided by the schools based on the specific academic requirements of the students, as deemed fit.

A remedial time table has to be prepared by the schools and shared with the students

All schools are required to ensure parental consent for the students marked for remedial classes. Also, the attendance of all such students have to be marked online

Focus has to be given to students identified by the school

Wearing of uniform for remedial classes is mandatory for all students

Teachers have been advised to ensure ‘noticeable improvement’ in the students after the remedial classes

Facilities like clear drinking water, library access and basic amenities have to be ensure by the schools during the time

Schools can contract special teachers for the said classes in case the regular teaching staff is not available. Regular teachers working during this period will be eligible for and provided Earned Leaves for the period worked as per the CCS rules

All schools along with district officers must ensure smooth implementation of the remedial classes
Parents and students are advised to contact the respective schools in regard the schedule for the remedial classes. It is also suggested to get in touch with the teachers to understand the need for their ward for the same.
There are no remedial classes for lower and primary classes during summer holidays. The schools for all students will reopen from July 1, 2026, as per the schedule.
