Assam Government Signs MoUs with 6 Organisations to Introduce AI in School Education
Assam AI Education: Samagra Shiksha, Assam, signed MoUs with six entities Google AI, IIT Madras-Bodhan AI, LEHS-Wadhwani AI, EkStep-AXL, Canva Education, and Educate Girls to integrate AI, digital tech, and modern pedagogy into school education. The initiative focuses on training 1 lakh teachers, evaluating student reading fluency, offering personalized learning, and retaining out-of-school girls.
Assam AI Education: Samagra Shiksha, Assam, led by the Education Minister Ranoj Pegu, has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with six prominent organisations for incorporating AI, digital technology, and new pedagogical approaches in the schooling education system of the state. The multi-stakeholder programme endeavours to improve public education by endowing teachers with digital competencies and bettering student learning at various levels. Through these MoUs, Google AI would offer AI-based solutions, digital skills, and teacher training programs to the teachers, IIT Madras-Bodhan AI would train around 90,000 teachers of Grades 6 to 12 in AI proficiency by May 2027, and for enhancing foundational learning, LEHS-Wadhwani AI would initiate AI-based reading fluency assessment, and EkStep-AXL would provide personalised learning for foundational literacy and numeracy.
In addition to this, Canva Education would promote digital literacy, design thinking, and creativity among teachers and students, and the non-profit organisation Educate Girls would utilize data-driven tracking for identifying, enrolling, and retaining out-of-school adolescent girls from vulnerable communities. Assam is aiming to create an inclusive and futuristic learning environment through the combined effort of expert professionals from technology firms, educational institutes, and social welfare organisations.
