In the second semi-final of the tournament, Team India registered their second-highest total in T20 cricket. The score also stands as India’s highest team total ever in a knockout match, highlighting their powerful batting display on the big stage.

India already registered its highest team total in T20 WorldCup history, after 19 years of the inauguration of this format of tournament during its Super-8 stage match against Zimbabwe at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, on 26 February 2026.

Abhishek Sharma, who hit 55 off 30 balls and Hardik Pandya’s 50 off 23 balls. The T20 World Cup has witnessed some breathtaking performances from Team India over the years. India's higest ever ICC Men's T20 World total came after 19 years in its Super-8 stage match against Zimbabwe at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on 26 February 2026. 

The foundation for this monumental total of 256/4 was laid by a ruthless collective effort from the Indian batting lineup. Abhishek Sharma led the charge as the top scorer, smashing a blistering 55 off just 30 balls, laced with four boundaries and four maximums.

The middle and lower order capitalized on this explosive start, with Hardik Pandya playing a devastating unbeaten knock of 50 from a mere 23 deliveries.

The onslaught was relentless, as Tilak Varma provided a spectacular late surge with an unbeaten 44 off only 16 balls at a phenomenal strike rate of 275.00. Crucial momentum was also sustained throughout the innings by Ishan Kishan, who added a solid 38 off 24 balls, and captain Suryakumar Yadav, who showcased his trademark 360-degree aggression with a quickfire 33 off just 13 balls.

Together, this combined barrage completely dismantled the Zimbabwean bowling attack and etched India's name into the record books.

253/7 vs England – Mumbai, 2026

India posted a massive 253/7 against England at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium on 5 March 2026. This dominant batting display in the 2026 T20 World Cup was powered by Yashasvi Jaiswal’s explosive 68 off 32 balls. Shubman Gill provided steady support with a brisk 45, while Rinku Singh electrified the crowd with a lightning-fast 52 off 19 balls today. Late contributions from Rishabh Pant and Hardik Pandya ensured India surpassed the 250-run mark. This relentless performance dismantled the English bowling attack, marking the second time India crossed 250 in the tournament and now firmly securing their status as global title favorites.

218/4 vs England cricket team – Durban, 2007

India’s second-ever T20 World Cup total came during the inaugural tournament in 2007 at Kingsmead, Durban. The highlight of this match was Yuvraj Singh’s historic six sixes in an over against Stuart Broad. India posted 218/4, a massive total at that time, and went on to win the match convincingly.
