Telangana Government Increases Upper Age Limit
As per the notification released, the maximum age limit has been increased from 34 to 44 years for recruitment to government jobs in the state. Candidates must note that this is a special facility provided by the government for the period of one year. The decision has been made after the state government received several representations from youths. The government stated that more people will get a chance now.
The official notification released by the chief secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao stated, “After careful examination of the matter, the government has decided to raise the upper age limit by ten (10) years, i.e., from 34 years to 44 years, for other than uniform services for a period of one (1) year for the ensuing direct recruitments in various categories of posts to be notified by the recruiting agencies in the state.
The age relaxation will benefit candidates applying for direct recruitment jobs in the Telangana government. Aspirants from reserved categories will continue to get additional age relaxation as per the existing government norms. However, this relaxation will not be applicable for uniformed services recruitment, including police, excise, fire services, prisons, and forest departments.
The Telangana government issued the notification under the powers provided by Article 309 of the Constitution of India. The move is expected to provide relief to thousands of unemployed youth who crossed the age limit due to delays in recruitment notifications in recent years.
