SSC JE 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification
Candidates must have completed either a Degree or a 3-year Diploma in the relevant engineering stream (Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical) from a recognised university or institute.
Age Limit (As of Jan 1, 2026)
The maximum age limit varies by department: CPWD & CWC: Up to 32 years.
Other Departments: Up to 30 years.
Note: Age relaxation is provided to SC/ST (5 years), OBC (3 years), and PwD candidates as per government norms.
SSC JE 2026 Exam Pattern
Candidates will be selected on the basis of their performance in Paper 1 and Paper 2 which will be conducted in a Computer-Based Test (CBT). Check the details belwo
Paper 1: Preliminary Exam
Subjects: General Intelligence & Reasoning (50 marks), General Awareness (50 marks), and General Engineering (100 marks).
Duration: 2 Hours.
Negative Marking: 0.25 marks for every incorrect response.
Paper 2: Mains Exam
Subjects: Purely technical questions from the chosen discipline (Civil/Electrical/Mechanical).
Questions: 100 Objective Type Questions.
Marks: 300 (3 marks per question).
Duration: 2 Hours.
Negative Marking: 1 mark for every incorrect response
