For February 14, 2026, schools in Uttar Pradesh major districts may see school closure tomorrow due to effects of Maha Kumbh crowd in religious districts. Schools may observe second Saturday holidays in some states. States like Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, Gujarat, and Odisha, will see school closure tomorrow.  Also, as Maha Shivaratri is falling on Sunday, February 15, some private schools and institutions may declare "bridge holiday" to provide students and staff a long weekend.

Uttar Pradesh: Localised School Holiday Due To Reverse Flow of Maha Kumbh

The District authorities have announced school closure in major religious districts in Ayodhya and Varanasi due to a large influx of devotees visiting the cities as a reverse flow  (Palat Pravah) of the Maha Kumbh. 

• Schools will be closed up to class 12 in Ayodhya from February 11th to 14th, 2026. 

• In Varanasi, schools up to grade 8 have been closed until the 14th.

• Schools in Mirzapur are also declared closed until February 13th.

Although the regular classes will be affected, all the board related practical exams will continue as usual.

The shutdown is in view to manage the huge crowd flowing towards the cities to visit the auspicious temples, causing severe transportation movement across these spiritual cities.

1. Second Saturday: As February 14 is the second Saturday of the month, states such as Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, Gujarat, and Telangana may observe a full holiday for all educational institutions.

2. Maha Shivaratri 2026: As Maha-Shivaratri falls on Sunday, February 15, 2026, some schools might declare a "bridge holiday" on the 14th to allow for a long weekend, however this is at the liberty of each school's administration.
