Padma Awards 2026 concluded on 24th June, 2026 where recipients were conferred by President Draupadi Murmu. Some of the most notable awardees were Rohit Sharma, Alka Yagnik, Mammootty, Shibu Soren and many more.
Padma Awards 2026 took place in two ceremonies. The first ceremony took place on 25 May, 2026 where 66 recipients received the award while the second ceremony took place on 23 June, 2026 where 65 recipients were conferred the award by President Draupadi Murmu.
The most notable personality to win the Padma Vibhushan award was the late actor Dharmendra. His wife, Hema Malini accepted the award graciously on his behalf.

What are the Padma Awards?
The Padma Award is the highest civilian honor presented to people in different fields of art, culture, sports, politics, literature, science, technology and many more to acknowledge their achievements in their respective works. There are three categories of Padma Awards:
Padma Vishubhan is the second highest civilian award which is given for “exceptional service”.
Padma Bhushan is the third highest civilian award which is given for “distinguished service of high order”.
Padma Shri is the fourth highest civilian award which is given for “distinguished service in any feild”.
All three categories of awards are given to personalities within these fields at the Padma Awards without demarcations. All the recipients of the awards are announced on Republic Day of each year.
Notable Recipients of Padma Awards 2026
Here are some of the most notable awardees of the Padma Awards along with the category they received the award in:
Rohit Sharma, Indian Cricketer and Former Indian Cricket Captain won the Padmi Shri for his outstanding contribution to the Indian Cricket Team, along with winning tournaments like Champions Trophy and T20 Tournament.
Mammootty, a prominent actor in Malayam cinema was awarded the Padma Bhushan for his achievements in Indian cinema and art where he contributed to more than 400 movies in various languages. He already won the Padma Shri in 1998.
Alka Yagnik was honoured with Padma Bhushan award due to her contribution to Indian music where she has sung more than 22,000 songs over 25 languages.
Shibu Soren was awarded with the Padm Bhushan award in Public Affairs posthumously as he passed away in August 2025. He was the founder of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and the former Chief Minister of Jharkhand who helped the tribal and minority community gain their own identity with the separate establishment of Jharkhand state in 2000.
R. Madhavan accepted the Padma Shri award for his outstanding achievements in the field of art and cinema. He has acted in various film languages over the span of 25 years.
P Narayanan is an acclaimed writer and journalist who received the Padma Vibhushan for his contributions in the field of Literature and Eduation.
The Padma Awards 2026 concluded on 24th June, 2026 with a total of 131 recipients. Only 5 recipients received the highest category of Padma Vibhushan, 13 recipients received the Padma Bhushan award and 113 people were awarded the Padma Shri.
