UPESSC Special TET 2026: Check Full Details on Eligibility, Fees, Syllabus and 2500 Special Educator Posts

The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) has released the Special TET 2026 notification under the advertisement number 03/2026 on September 3, 2026. This exam is mandatory for all teachers already working in the UP government and aided schools. The online registration for the UP Special TET 2026 will start on September 5, 2026, and will close on October 4, 2026. The exam will be held on November 3, 2026. This notification marks a significant shift in the state education policy, applying judicial mandates and restructuring teacher eligibility standards across primary and upper primary schools. 

Why is the Supreme Court TET Mandate Important For Working Teachers of UP?

The Supreme Court had passed an order requiring all the working teachers to clear the Teacher’s Eligibility Test (TET). As per the Apex Court TET Mandate, the serving teachers will have to qualify the TET exam, and they have until August 31, 2028, to qualify for the Teachers Eligibility Test. To keep their jobs safe, all the working teachers and assistant teachers of the Uttar Pradesh Government and Aided Schools will have to clear this exam. 

This Supreme Court order is applicable to both the Primary Level Teachers (Classes 1 to 5) and Upper Primary Level Teachers (Classes 6-8) in the state. With the online registration and application process starting on September 5, 2026, and closing on October 4, 2026, and the exam to be conducted on November 3, 2026, working teachers face an important timeline to secure their teaching credentials.

2500 Posts for CWSN Special Educators in UP Special TET 2026

Along with the regular teachers, the UPESSC Special TET 2026 notification also covers around 2500 special educator posts for Children with Special Needs (CWSN). The posts of the special educators are across the Primary Level (Classes 1-5) and the Upper Primary Level (Classes 6-8). To register for this test, the candidates must have a relevant degree along with a D.Ed. or B.Ed. in Special Education from a recognised university.

One of the most important eligibility criteria that the candidates must meet is that they should have an active Central Rehabilitation Register (CRR) Number and a registration certificate from the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI). The contractual special educators are granted an upper age limit relaxation of up to 60 years as of the exam date. 

UPESSC TET Eligibility Criteria, Fees & Syllabus 

Working teachers, they will have to meet the eligibility criteria for applying to the UPESSC Special TET 2026. The eligibility criteria are as follows:-

To apply for the UP Special TET 2026 exam, the candidates will have to pay an application fee, which is different for each category of the candidate. Given below is the application fee for the UPESSC Special TET 2026:-

• For the General, OBC, and EWS candidates: Rs. 1000
• For SC and ST Candidates: Rs. 500
• For Divyang (PwBD) Candidates: Rs. 300

The syllabus for the UP Super TET 2026 includes topics like Child Development and Teaching Methods, Hindi, Second Language, Mathematics, Environmental Studies, etc. The UP Special TET paper 2026 will have to be completed within 150 minutes and will have 150 MCQs without negative marking. The candidates of the unreserved category will have to score at least 60% (90 marks), while the reserved categories (SC, ST, OBC, EWS, PwBD, and Ex-Servicemen) will have to score 52% (82 marks) to qualify for the exam.

The UPESSC Special TET 2026 is more than just another government job exam.
