Factors Determining GDS 3rd Merit List Cut-off

As discussed above, India Post has issued the GDS 3rd Merit List cut-offs after the announcement of GDS 3rd Merit List 2026 results. There are several factors that determine the GDS 3rd Merit List cut-off; some of the key factors are given below

  • The difficulty level of the exam is the main factor that affects the cut-off. The tougher the question paper, the cut-off will be lower, and vice versa.

  • This year, around 10 Lakh candidates applied for GDS 3rd Merit List 2026, which is significantly higher than the previous year. The higher test-takers mean a higher GDS 3rd Merit List cut-off, while lower GDS 3rd Merit List test-takers will lead to a lower GDS 3rd Merit List cut-off

  • The number of aspirants who cleared the GDS 3rd Merit List exam is directly proportional to the cut-off.

  • The number of seats available also affects the GDS 3rd Merit List cut-off. If an institute has limited seats, the cut-off can be higher.
