What is Teqball? 

Teqball is played on a curved table, with singles (men’s and women’s), doubles and mixed doubles categories. The curved table is separated into 2 halves by a net in between, similar to table tennis.

A player can use any part of the body (except the hands and arms) to hit the ball and send it across the net towards the opponent. The process is repeated across sets, with the winner being decided based on the final result.

Core Gameplay & Scoring

• Set Winner: A match will be played as a best-of-three set game. The team or player scoring 12 points first wins the set.

• Deciding Set: In case a match goes up to a third set, one must win the game by 2 points (e.g., 13-11).

• Scoring: Points are awarded for every single rally played.

Ball Handling Rules

• Touch Limit: A total of 3 touches are allowed to send the ball over the net.

• Hands and Arms Forbidden: Players can use their head, chest, thigh, or feet but no hands and arms can be used.

• No Double Body Hits: Players are not allowed to hit the ball twice in a row with the same body part.

• Varied Return: No players can send the ball to the opponent using the same body part in consecutive rallies.

• Smash Limit: A total of two smashes will be permitted per set from each individual in singles or a doubles match, where the ball leaves the Field of Play.

Service Rules

• Line Rules: The service is executed from behind the service line, making sure that at least one foot is on the ground.

• Two Try Rule: The player gets two chances to serve. After missing the first serve, the second chance can make the serve valid. Otherwise, a point is gained by the opponent after a second fault.

• Rotation: Service changes every 2 points for opponents.

Doubles Rules

• Mandatory Pass: It is required that teammates pass the ball among themselves at least once prior to sending it over the net. Singles cannot be played off an opponent's shot.

• Receiving: It is only allowed for the specified receiver to receive the serve.

Table Contact and Faults

• Contacting the Table or Opponent: Any physical contact with the table and the opponent leads to the loss of the point.

• Edgeball (Replay): In case the ball touches the top curved part of the board during the play, the play is replayed.

• Sideball (Out): If the ball touches the vertical side or the lower edge of the table, it is considered out of the court, giving a point to the opponent.
