NMMS JK Scholarship 2025-26: The applications are invited from the eligible resident students of Jammu & Kashmir to avail the benefits under the NMMS scheme. This scholarship will be provided on yearly basis to the students studying regular students and entering in class 9th in a Government, government-aided, local body schools. Thus the scholarship will be for a maximum period of four years. The amount of scholarship is ₹ 12000/- per annum at ₹1000 per month. An examination will be conducted by the Board at stage of class 8th for selection of students for the award of the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship. The State Level Examination consists of the following two tests:

• Mental Ability Test (MAT)

• Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT)

NMMS JK 2025-26

The Centrally Sponsored Scheme Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education is going to conduct National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS) examination 2025-26 for the students who have appeared in Class 8th Annual Examination during the Session October-November, 2025 in the Kashmir Division/ Winter Zone areas of Jammu Division and are going to appear in 8th Annual Examination in March-April 2026 in Summer Zone areas of Jammu Division.

NMMS JK Application Form 2025-26

Eligible students must download the NMMS application form from the official website of JKBOSE at jkbose.nic.in. The duly filled application forms are required to be sent to the Chief Education Officer (Designated District Nodal Officer, NMMS).

The Concerned Chief Education Officers (DNOs) shall prepare the database of the candidates in the prescribed excel format(available on JKBOSE website) and submit the Application Forms along with requisite documents and database of their respective to CDR Wing, New Campus, Bemina, Srinagar / Rehari Colony, Jammu-Tawi within seven days of the closing date of the notification.

NMMS JK Eligibility Criteria

The students must have a minimum percentage of 55% marks in class 7th examination for appearing in the selection test while a relaxation of 5% relaxation SC/ST students shall be provided. In addition:

• Domicile: The student must be a domicile of J&K, studying in a Government/Government-aided/Local Body School only.

• Annual Family Income: The overall family income should not exceed ₹3.50 Lakh per annum.

NMMS JK Scholarship Benefits

Selected students under the NMMS scholarship receive financial aid intended to support learning and reduce dropout rates. The benefits include:

• ₹12,000 per year scholarship amount, granted to students from Class IX to XII (spread over four years).

• Support to meritorious students from economically weaker backgrounds to continue their secondary and higher secondary education.

For availing the scholarship

• A student must pass two tests i.e. Mental Aptitude Test(MAT) and Scholastic Aptitude Test(SAT) with at least 40% marks in aggregate (taken together for those two tests). For the SC/ST (STÌ & ST2) students, this cut off will be 32% marks. 

• The duration of Scholarship is four years and the student has to score at least 55% marks in Class 8th, 60% marks in class 10th [relaxable by 5% for SC/ST (ST1 & ST2) candidates] and clear promotion in the first attempt from class 9th to class 10th and class 11th to class 12th.
