Candidates should report at the selected Division office of their circle with originals and 2 sets of photocopies of all relevant documents. These documents are:

The candidates shortlisted in the GDS 2nd merit list 2026 for the Delhi circle are 28 in number. They are selected across 4 divisions:

In addition to the basic salary, selected candidates for GDS positions will receive various perks, benefits, and allowances in accordance with GDS regulations. These additional payments primarily serve to boost monthly earnings and enhance living standards. The India Post GDS salary package encompasses the following perks and allowances:

• GDS employees are compensated through a Time Related Continuity Allowance (TRCA), which is subject to a 3% annual increment upon meeting specific requirements. They will also receive Dearness Allowance, calculated on the TRCA and adjusted periodically by the Government of India.
• Furthermore, GDS personnel are eligible for other allowances and social security benefits, such as GDS Gratuity and the Service Discharge Benefit Scheme, which is comparable to the National Pension System offered to permanent staff.

A total 168 candidates have been shortlisted in the GDS 2nd merit list 2026 for the Himachal Pradesh state.

Following five years of service as a GDS, the remuneration will see an increase from the starting salary, owing to annual increments in TRCA and periodic adjustments to DA. The anticipated monthly salary for a GDS after five years is in the range of ₹16,000 to ₹18,000.

A total of 869 candidates are shortlisted for the Gujarat state in the India Post GDS 2nd merit list 2026

The India Post has uploaded the GDS 2nd Merit List for India Post recruitment 2026 for 19 circle divisions. The India Post has withheld the result for 4 states due to the Model of Conduct. These states are:

Applicants are advised to thoroughly review the annual salary package for positions such as Branch Postmaster (BPM), Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM), and Dak Sevaks. The projected annual salary for a GDS BPM is approximately INR 1.44 Lakhs Per Annum (LPA), while the annual package for ABPM and Dak Sevak roles is estimated to be around INR 1.20 LPA. This annual figure is calculated by taking the monthly pay based on the TRCA Slab and multiplying it by twelve.

India Post has announced a total of 28,636 vacancies for the posts of Branch Postmaster (BPM), Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM), and Dak Sevak. Out of which, 28,558 candidates were selected in the GDS 1st Merit List.

Due to intense competition, candidates with higher academic scores are prioritized in the merit list.

If your name appears in the India Post GDS merit list, it doesn't mean that you are selected for the appointment. It just means that you have been shortlisted for the further selection stages.

Unlike most government recruitments, India Post GDS selection does not involve a written examination or interview. The process relies entirely on Class 10 academic performance. This unique system ensures transparency and simplifies recruitment. However, it also increases competition, as lakhs of candidates apply annually. Aspirants must maintain high academic scores to secure selection. The absence of an exam makes the process accessible yet highly competitive, highlighting the importance of strong academic records.

The initial engagement of GDS will be made based on the basic TRCA Slabs. The selected candidates will receive a monthly salary between INR 10,000 and INR 12,000, depending on the post. They will be paid emoluments in the form of Time Related Continuity Allowance (TRCA). It carries an annual increase of 3%, subject to the fulfilment of conditions, as mentioned in the GDS Rules.

The GDS recruitment includes Branch Postmaster (BPM), Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM), and Dak Sevak positions. A total of 28,636 vacancies were announced for BPM, ABPM, and Dak Sevak.

BPMs manage branch offices, while ABPMs and Dak Sevaks assist in mail delivery, customer services, and financial operations. These positions offer stable employment opportunities and career growth. Candidates should understand job responsibilities before accepting their appointment.

The India Post GDS 2nd merit list is released to fill vacancies left unoccupied after the first round due to non-joining, document discrepancies, or candidate disqualification. There is an automated calculation system which standardizes scores across different boards. Candidates must note that even a marginal difference in percentage can impact their selection.

If two or more candidates have the same marks in Class 10, India Post follows a clear priority system to decide the ranking:

Age Preference: The older candidate (based on date of birth) is given priority.
If the tie still remains, selection is decided based on category and gender in the following order:
ST Female: SC Female: OBC Female: EWS Female: UR Female
ST Male: SC Male" OBC Male: EWS Male: UR Male

There is no fixed number of merit lists. Usually, India Post releases multiple merit lists (2–5 rounds) depending on the number of vacant seats after each round.
