CJP Student Protest Live: The student protest continued after the “Sansad Chalo” movement on July 20, 2026, with students and the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged irregularities in the NEET UG 2026 examination.

The CJP Chief Spokesperson Saurav Das and its National Spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka met Union government ministers today at the Constitution Club of India, following which they said, the "Centre has asked for a day's time". The Paper Leak Amendment Bill to provide stricter punishments for paper leak has been approved during the cabinet meeting today.

Among 17 closed metro stations, the Delhi Metro Railway Corporation (DMRC) has now announced the closure of New Delhi Metro station until further notice. No interchange facility will be available at the station, the DMRC said. 

Schools Shifted To Hybrid Mode

Several schools in central Delhi have switched to hybrid classes or revised their transport arrangements due to traffic restrictions and Metro disruptions caused by the ongoing Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protest.

R S Junior Modern School, located on Humayun Road, citing the “ongoing situation in Central Delhi,” informed parents about the shift of Classes from Nursery to Class 5 in Hybrid mode. Classes will now run in both online and offline mode until further notice, the official circular said. 

Meanwhile, Sardar Patel Vidyalaya in Lodhi Estate, which had shifted to online classes on Tuesday and Wednesday, has announced that regular in-person classes will resume on Thursday.

“How dare you threaten students,” Says Rahul Gandhi To DU

“How dare you threaten students for exercising their democratic rights? Please note, you are the ones that will be held accountable when the time comes.” Leader of Opposition (LoP) of Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi said to the University of Delhi in a post on X.

Lok Sabha Meeting Adjourned

In another update, Lok Sabha has been adjourned to meet again on July 27, 2026 at 11 am, amid sloganeering by the Congress and other opposition demanding the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan.  

No Cases Against Peaceful Protesters

Sonam Wangchuk announced that he had ended his 26-day hunger strike after receiving assurances from the government that the issue of accountability in the “failing examination system” would be discussed on the floor of Parliament.

Wangchuk further said that the families of suicide victims would be provided compensation and that no cases would be registered against peaceful protesters.

“The government also gave assurance that families of suicide victims in the recent NEET examination paper leak will be given adequate compensation and that there will be no cases registered against the peacefully protesting students and youths,” Wangchuk said.

    Hearing a PIL pleading for an NIA probe into the protest by CJP-led Jantar Mantar, the Chief Justice pointed out that the law mandates a certain procedure - an FIR needs to be filed, the issue raised by the State to the Centre and then the Centre may take a decision if it is fit to initiate an NIA probe.

    “Now you are asking us to form our opinion about the fitness of the case. This responsibility has been conferred on the Central Government. Can we assume their position?” the Bench asked.

He had joined students at Jantar Mantar in their protest, demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, and was detained by the police two days before the “Sansad Chalo” movement.

In a post on X, Wangchuk said, “Earlier, 65 Members of Parliament from different political parties had visited or signed letters urging me to end the fast.”

Explaining his decision to call off the hunger strike, Wangchuk wrote, “This was done after long negotiations on various conditions and in view of possible violence in the country.”
