Governor Haribhau Bagade Urges Students to Embrace Value-Based Learning and Turn Setbacks into Success

The 8th Convocation Ceremony of MIT-ADT University, Pune, was held with great enthusiasm on the Vishwarajbaug campus, wherein proud graduates, parents, and distinguished guests convened.

Addressing the gathering, Hon’ble Governor of Rajasthan, Shri Haribhau Bagade, has underlined that students form the bedrock of a self-reliant and progressive India. “Education must extend beyond textbooks,” he elaborated. “It shall help in the all-round development of students, engender sensitivity towards society, and cultivate a harmonious attitude towards life, an exact blend of body and mind.”

He asked students to regard education as a means for creating meaningful change rather than just a path to earning a degree. “Failure is never the end; it is the start of a new journey. Learn from your setbacks and use your knowledge, skills, and compassion to help India emerge as a global leader,” he added.

Dignitaries and Inspiring Insights

Many distinguished guests attended the convocation, which included Prof. (Dr.) Laxmidhar Behera, Director of IIT Mandi; Prof. (Dr.) Mangesh T. Karad, Executive President and Vice-Chancellor, MIT-ADT University; Shri Ramanan Ramanathan, Chairperson of the National Expert Advisory Council for Technology, Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship; Glass Man of India Shri Subhash Tyagi, Chairman, Gold Plus Glass Industries; Smt. Smita Patil, Managing Director, SSPL Group and National President, NAREDCO; along with Prof. (Dr.) Sunita Karad, Executive Director, and many other academic and administrative leaders of the university.

Prof. (Dr.) Laxmidhar Behera talked about finding true happiness within oneself, drawing wisdom from the Bhagavad Gita, and emphasized that experiential learning was very important to build a self-reliant nation.

Shri Ramanan Ramanathan highlighted the increasingly central role of India in the global science and technology landscape and urged students to take active participation in research and innovation.

Meanwhile, Smt. Smita Patil lauded the role of MIT-ADT University in promoting education relevant to the goals of development in India and shared her view on the evolution of opportunities in the real estate sector.

Shri Subhash Tyagi, famously referred to as the Glass Man of India, shared his life experiences to motivate students: “I wasn’t academically outstanding,” he confessed, “but was determined to work hard — and that determination built Gold Plus Glass Industries into a company with an annual turnover of over ₹10,000 crore and over 4,000 employees.” He also said, “India currently consumes around 100,000 tons of glass daily but produces only 20,000 tons, thereby holding immense potential for innovation in this field.
